Avigdor Lieberman, hardline Zionist politician, who is Ehud Olmert's deputy too, was assigned to run the ministry. Liberman was responsible to coordinate security, information and diplomatic cooperation regarding any strategic threats against the regime especially those from Iran. At the Lieberman's inaugural ceremony, Olmert said considering Iran's nuclear 'threat,' we need a full-time minister to coordinate activities of Musad, National Security Council, Atomic Energy Committee and Security Police (Shin Beth). Lieberman's appointment by Olmert surprised political experts because it was for the first time that the occupying regime established a special ministry with a special minister to confornt 'Iran threat.' The disbanding came after Zionist officials asked US President Bush to agree to establishment of a new Zionist organization in America to coordinate necessary measures for confronting 'Iran thraet.' The Zionist daily Haaretz wrote that the disbanded ministry had not released any official report or evaluation document during its 17-month activity.
