In the southern town of Al-Khalil hundreds of people gathered in the centre waving flags and portraits, with demonstrators chanting "Tell, tell everyone, the detainees are the foundation." Similar demonstrations were staged in the neighboring town of Jenin and the West Bank political capital of Ramallah. The marchers in West Bank reminded the Zionist regime of its vows to free all detainees as part of talks held in Annapoli in November. "Our position was and is still unwavering - that it is not possible to make peace with Israel unless all prisoners and all detainees are freed," Abbas said in a pre-recorded statement broadcast in Ramallah.
