Jailed lawmakers preparing Hamas-Fatah reconciliation initiative

A Palestinian lawmaker from Hamas' Change and Reform party said on Sunday that jailed lawmakers along with other captives were preparing a reconciliation initiative between political rivals Hamas and Fatah.

Hamid Al-Baitawi highlighted that the initiative was being crystallized. However he emphasized that the success of such an initiative would be dependent on Palestinian politicians outside jail.

Referring to the meddlesome treatment by the USA and Israel of the Palestinian decision makers, he implied that some politicians comply with foreign policies and do not make their own decisions.

Al-Baitawi also pointed out that Palestinian captives, including ministers and lawmakers, have always endeavored to achieve unity between Palestinian factions through holding their own meetings behind bars.
