Israeli official's top aide injured

An aide to Israeli public security minister Avi Dichter is shot and slightly wounded in the leg by a gunman, a police spokesman says.

The incident happened while Dichter and his aide were touring the area bordering Gaza on Friday to observe the situation of the Israeli communities, said the Israel Radio.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld has confirmed gunmen in Gaza opened fired on "a group in southern Israel, and one person was injured ".

Rosenfeld said he could not identify the person who was shot.
