DFLP commemorates 39th anniv

The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) celebrated the 39th anniversary of its founding on Friday, in the Palestinian camp of Ein El-Hilweh in Lebanon.

Representatives of various factions of the Palestine Liberation Organization and representatives of the Palestinian associations and organizations attended the event.

A commemorative torch was lit, followed by a march. The participants carried Palestinian and Lebanese flags, as well as DFLP flags, and photographs of late President Yasser Arafat, Secretary General of the Democratic Front Nayef Hawatmeh and assassinated Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyya. The march ended in the Martyrs Cemetery in the camp, with a wreath laying ceremony on the tomb of the unknown soldier.

DFLP member Khaled Abu Swed delivered a speech, calling for rebuilding Palestinian unity on the basis of the national accord and the Cairo Agreement. He also called for Arab states to play a more decisive role in helping the Palestinian people and pressuring Zionist regime to stop its aggression and lift the siege on Gaza.

Abu Swed condemned US President George W. Bush's call for the recognition of 'Israel' as 'Jewsish state' and stressed the rejection of all projects aimed at the erosion of the right of return.
