Hamas invites Kouchner to visit Gaza

A spokesman for the Islamic Hamas Movement in Gaza has invited France Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner to visit the Gaza Strip.

Kouchner, who is visiting the occupied Palestinian territories, had earlier said that France is willing to mediate between the Zionist regime and Hamas to release captive Israeli soldier Gilad Schalit "if France is asked to".

Ayman Taha, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, welcomed Kouchner statements, and said, "Hamas invites Mr. Kouchner to visit the Gaza Strip to prove that his statements are serious."

Zionist soldier Gilad Schalit, who was captured by Gaza fighters last year, holds French nationality as well.  

No official word has come from Kouchner following Hamas invitation to him to visit the strip.

While the Zionist regime is trying to free its soldier, nearly 11,550 Palestinians, including women and children, are being held in more than 30 Israeli detention facilities under poor conditions.
