Emergency session of UNSC called on Gaza
The United Nations Security Council called for an emergency session on Tuesday to respond to the heightening crisis in the Gaza Strip.
The fifteen-member body will convene Tuesday morning at the request of a number of UN ambassadors from Arab states, as well as the non-voting Palestinian UN Ambassador.
The session will begin at 10 am GMT, and the members of the Security Council will make a recommendation to try to force an end to the impasse. Israel's policy of collective punishment of the entire population of 1.5 million Palestinians living in Gaza is in direct violation of UN resolutions and international humanitarian law.
The European Union has condemned Zionists' policy of collective punishment, and called Monday night for the emergency session.
