Hamas commends Norwegian trade union federation’s decision to boycott Israel

The Hamas Movement commended the decision of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions to boycott Zionist regime and ban trade ties and investment with its companies, considering it a courageous step that embodies a clear alignment with truth and justice and a victory for the rights of the Palestinian people.
In a statement on Friday, Hamas called on labor and trade unions worldwide to follow this moral stance and continue to exert pressure by all means available to “isolate this fascist entity and expose its crimes against humanity.”
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions voted unanimously on Friday during its general conference on a resolution calling for a boycott of Israel and its products.
“We want the fund to withdraw from companies that have activities in the occupied Palestinian territories,” said Steinar Krogstad, deputy president of the confederation, on Tuesday.
The general policy of the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, the largest in the world, should not invest in companies that violate international law, he added.
The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions is the largest trade union confederation in Norway and is allied with the ruling Labor Party. Its influence often extends beyond traditional labor rights issues.
