President Raisi, FM Amirabdollahian die in helicopter crash

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian died when their helicopter crashed as it was crossing mountain terrain in heavy fog.

Tehran, Qodsna - President Raisi’s helicopter crashed afternoon on Sunday in Varzaqan region as he was returning with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and several others from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam on Iran’s border with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

 

Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the 64-year-old eighth president of Iran, was born on December 14, 1960, in the holy city of Mashhad. He has held various positions, including serving as the head of the Judiciary, the first deputy of the judiciary, the prosecutor general of the country, a member of the Expediency Council, the deputy chairman of the Assembly of Experts, and the custodian of the Astan Quds Razavi.

 

In September, on the occasion of Government Week, the Leader of the Revolution, while commending the good and strong performance of the government in some areas, including infrastructure projects, growth in macroeconomic indicators, and foreign policy, stated that the government's presence among the people and direct, sincere, and humble interaction with them is very valuable. He also praised the government's simple lifestyle, revolutionary positions, jihadist spirit, and the employment of young people in various management positions.
