Canadian author in interview with Qodsna:

ICJ hearings expose US-Israel brutality, loss of life/Biden losing support for his genocidal policies

A Canadian journalist and activist told Qodsna that the hearings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) are good opportunities to reveal the true face of brutal US-Zionist regimes and shed light on the loss of lives in the Gaza Strip.

Tehran, Qodsna - Robert Fantina said in an exclusive interview with the Qods News Agency: “It is tragic that the ICJ does not have stronger support of the nations that are signatories to it.”

Asked about the upcoming ICJ hearings over the Zionist regime’s attacks on the Rafah city, Fantina said: “The ICJ hearings are important, not because they of themselves will alter the behavior of the criminal, apartheid, Zionist entity; that criminal enterprise has ignored ICJ decisions before. But the hearings will further the process that is already well underway of exposing the unspeakable brutality of both the Zionist and United States regimes, and their complete disdain for human rights and international law. Nearly every world leader has said that an invasion of Rafah will be an unprecedented disaster in terms of loss of life, and human suffering. The ICJ hearings will emphasize these facts. They will also clearly demonstrate that loss of life and human suffering are not byproducts of Israel’s stated and completely unreasonable goal of ‘destroying Hamas’, but are, in fact the actual goal.”

As to the impact of the ICJ ruling on the war on Gaza, the journalist noted: “It is possible that the United States government will be in a position that it can no longer send weapons to Israel. This would not be as a result of the US government recognizing the horrific crimes against humanity that it is complicit in committing; US political leaders are well aware of that fact, and don’t care. Any reduction in support for Israel by the US will be because it is an election year, and President Joe Biden, often referred to now as ‘Genocide Joe’, is desperate to be re-elected, and knows he has lost key support due to his genocidal policies.”

He also concluded: “The US government has already stated that it is reducing the shipment of some weapons to Israel, but this is not nearly sufficient to stop the ongoing genocide. Additionally, the US continues to protect Israel from the consequences of its many war crimes by exercising its veto power in the United Nations Security Council. This continued participation in genocide is destroying whatever was left of the US’s international reputation, one that has been in tatters for years; the myth of the United States of America as a freedom-loving, beacon of democracy on the world stage was never believed very much beyond its own borders, but now even that limited audience is recognizing the truth.”
