In interview with Qodsna:

American journalist says Israel acting like terrorist state/Students protest at over 200 universities in US

An American-Canadian investigative journalist has told the Qodsna that all facts and figures on the ground in the Gaza Strip prove that the Zionist regime “is acting like a terrorist state,” adding that students have protested at more than 200 universities in the United States.

Tehran, Qodsna - Rick Sterling made the remarks in an exclusive interview with the Qods News Agency, noting, “Several months ago, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel may be committing genocide in Gaza. The evidence is overwhelming. Israel has bombed hospitals, universities, schools, churches and mosques. They have prevented essential food, water and medicine. They have spread lies and disinformation. It is clear to most of the world that Israel is acting like a terrorist state.”

The investigative journalist also pointed to the root causes of Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, arguing, “When you oppress people as severely as Israel has done to the Palestinians, it is inevitable that there will come an explosion. The Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have demonstrated and protested peacefully countless times. Sadly, it has got them nowhere. In spring 2018, they protested peacefully in the Great March of Return. What happened?  Two hundred were killed and thousands wounded by Israeli snipers on the border with Gaza. According to Protocol 1 of the Geneva Convention and two United Nations resolutions, an occupied people have the right to resist by all means. That includes armed struggle. On October 7, they acted in accordance with this right.”

Asked about the way that the Palestinian people can achieve their rights and overcome the ongoing occupation, he said, “Unfortunately, too many Israelis have been indoctrinated with the belief they are superior and cannot live with the indigenous Palestinian population. As in South Africa, change will require the world speaking out and acting in solidarity with the oppressed. The demonstrations demanding the end of US and European support of Israel need to continue. There should be demonstrations against Israel at the Paris Olympics. Thanks and congratulations to South Africa for charging Israel with genocide at the ICJ. Thanks and congratulations to Nicaragua for charging Germany with assisting genocide at the ICJ.  With actions from all over the world, and Palestinian resistance at the core, Israeli apartheid and occupation can be defeated.”

In conclusion, he referred to worldwide student protests, noting, “There are huge demonstrations around the world and these need to continue. Right now, in the United States there are protests and encampments at over 200 universities. They are demanding the universities divest from any companies aiding Israel. These need to continue.”
