1979 Revolution was an inspiration to the world// Islamic Resistance movement is winning

Qodsna (Tehran) - On the eve of the 45th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution, Qods News Agency reporter interviewed with Rodney Shakespeare, a professor at the University of Cambridge and a qualified British lawyer.

Qodsna: Many experts believe that Iran's Islamic Revolution played a significant role in Islamic awakening and led to the revival of the Palestinian issue and the formation of Islamic resistance movements. What is your opinion about this?

Prof. Rodney Shakespeare:  The 1979 Revolution was an inspiration to the world.  It showed that brutal, autocratic regimes can be overthrown and Western hegemony resisted.  Moreover, it gave hope to the oppressed Palestinians.

Qodsna: Iran's Islamic revolution occured in a situation where Palestine is in its worst condition. Now the Palestinian resistance groups, which are inspired by the Islamic revolution of Iran, are in a position of superior power after the Al-Aqsa storm and have dealt such a blow to the Zionist regime that the destruction of this regime is imminent.

Considering the heavy defeat of Zionist regime and the international isolation of Zionist regime among the people of different countries of the world, how do you see the future of the regime after the Al-Aqsa storm operation?

Prof. Rodney Shakespeare:  The Islamic Resistance movement is winning. 

Zionism has been revealed as intent on destroying not only Al Aqsa but also the Palestinian people.   Apartheid is bad enough but it has now become genocide.  By committing genocide (and, of course by self-righteously denying it) Israel has lost the support of virtually everybody except the two great upholders of “Western Values” – the USA and UK. 

The future of Zionism is now very much in doubt and the USA and UK had better change course immediately or they will find themselves in big trouble.

Qodsna: Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called on Muslim countries to severe their political and economic relations with the Zionist regime, and cut off Tel Aviv's vital arteries.  What is your opinion and what solutions do you suggest to achieve this goal?

Prof. Rodney Shakespeare:  The autocratic Islamic regimes should remember that their own populations support the Palestinians and therefore the regimes would be wise to do everything to help the Palestinians.  If they do not, they (the autocratic regimes) may find themselves overthrown.

      As regards practical action:

•             the Yemen Houthis must be supported

•             Hezbollah must be supported; and

•             Turkey must be told to stop pretending it is supporting the Palestinians and be prepared to take military action if necessary.
