Iran hosts 12th intl. conf. of ‘Gaza, Symbol of Resistance’

The twelve edition of the International conference of ‘Gaza, Symbol of Resistance’ kicked off today at 09:00 local time.  

The conference is chaired by the Secretary General of Iran-based Society in Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN), Hojat-ol-Islam Rahimian.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hasan Nasrallah has sent a letter to the chief and secretary general of SDPN and the participants of the conference and read by the Lebanese representative in Tehran.  

The Society for the Defense of Palestinian Nation organized the event in cooperation with Qods news agency and some other NGOs. 

Representatives of Palestinian resistance movement groups and a number of other political figures attended in the conference.

It comes a day after the Gaza Day. January 19 has been designated by the Iranian parliament as the Gaza Day in the Iranian calendar.

The day was named in the aftermath of the resistance put up by the residents of the coastal enclave in the face of the full-scale Israeli invasion which led to Gaza’s victory in the 22-day Gaza War during December 27, 2008-January 18, 2009.

Secretary General of Iran-based Society in Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN), Hojat-ol-Islam  Mohammad Hassan Rahimian at the beginging of the confrence welcomed the guests, especially the families of the martyrs and the guests who participated in the ceremony from the heroic resistance fronts of Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen.

He pointed out that Imam Khomeini made the fight against the Israel and the Shah as the main theme of the Islamic movement, adding that: When Imam Khomeini was in Najaf Ashraf, before the Six Day War, A group of Palestinian devotees wrote a letter to him and put forward requests, and the Imam gave a reply to the following content: I have already warned that the usurping government of Israel with its goals poses great dangers to Islam and Islamic countries and it is necessary for the Islamic countries and other Muslims to repel this germ of corruption in any way possible.  

Imam was the first religious authority to issue a clear fatwa to help the Palestinian people and the fighters of the resistance front, Rahimian added.

The Secretary General of the SDPN also pointed to the six-day war between Israel and three Arab countries, including Egypt, Jordan and Syria, and said: In that war, the Golan Heights, the West Bank, Al-Quds , and the Sinai Desert were occupied.

Israel is tens of times stronger and more advanced compared to the past 40 years and equipped with all kinds of modern military equipment such as the Sa'ar ship and the Merkava tank, but despite all this, in the 33-day war, for the first time the regime tasted the bitter taste of defeat, and since then it could not continue fighting against Hamas and Islamic Jihad in successive wars, and each time the Zionist regime had to accept a ceasefire, and today, when the great miracle of Al-Aqsa Storm has happened, the entire arrogant world, namely America, UK, France, Germany and others united in support of Israel and stood behind the Zionist regime and against the small group of Hamas and for more than 100 days they used all their power to destroy Hamas and the resistance, but they are still unsuccessful.
