Int'l Quds Day rallies held throughout Iran

People of Iran from all walks of life have poured to the streets on Friday morning to mark the annual International Quds Day.

The International Quds Day with the main slogan of “Palestine, the axis of the unity of the Islamic world; Quds on the threshold of freedom” kicked off across Iran.

Iranian people have taken to the streets across the country on Friday to hold massive rallies on the International Quds Day and show support for the Palestinian cause.

Late Imam Khomeini designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as Quds Day on August 7, 1979, in a bid to hinder the distortion of history by the Zionist regime and to show support for the oppressed nation of Palestine.

Several Iranian senior officials including President Ebrahim Raisi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami, the Coordinating Deputy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also participated in the rallies held in Tehran.

Speaking at the event, Ghalibaf said, “The Quds Day showed us that the way to our success, progress and unity is the way of resistance”.

“Today, the Palestinians actively stand against Israel’s crimes and if they used to fight with stones, today they fight with rockets,” he added.

“Today, Palestine has become a center for the defense of Islamic values,” Ghalibaf went on to say.

The rallies began at 10 am in Tehran and over 900 cities across the country and a major part of Muslim states.

People held placards with slogans that read “Down with Israel, Down with the USA” to show their contempt for the racist policies of the Zionist Regime and the US support for the regime.

More than 4000 domestic and foreign reporters and photographers are covering the event across Iran.
