Hamas: Pence not welcome in Mideast

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has announced that it doesn’t welcome US Vice President Mike Pence to the Middle East.

'There is no justification to meet with Mike Pence at any level, ,' said Spokesperson of Hamas Fawzi Barhoum quoted by the anti-occupation movement's website on Saturday.

'Hamas is keen to foil all the American and Israeli schemes that target the Palestinian people's rights and well calls upon all pro-Palestinian nations and groups to continue their efforts to express refusal to the American interference in the region and the American Israeli plots.'

'We hail the unique steadfastness of our people and the people of the free world in facing these American plans,' he added.

Pence visited Egypt on Saturday and is to visit Jordan and the Occupied Palestine. The trip is Pence's fifth to the region, but his first after US President Donald Trump ordered on December 6, 2017, the US embassy to be moved to the Holy Quds and recognized it as an eternal capital of the Israeli Occupation.

After Trump announced his decision and widespread protests against it, President of the Palestinian Autonomous Authority Mahmoud Abbas decided to call off the meeting with the US vice president.
