The Israeli police on Monday closed Bab al-Maghareba, which has been under Israeli control since 1967, after 64 Jewish settlers broke into al-Aqsa Mosque.

Some 49 settlers, as well as 15 officers of the Israeli intelligence service, stormed the courtyards of al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning shift of incursions, PIC quoted Quds Press as saying.

The news agency added that the settlers were given presentations on the alleged Temple Mount during the break-in before they left the site via Bab al-Silsila where they performed prayers and Talmudic rituals.

It pointed out that Bab al-Maghareba was closed at 10:30 am and settlers were allowed to tour the Mosque for three hours and a half.

More than 200 settlers on Sunday were allowed to enter al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and afternoon shifts of incursions.
