Hamas: UN’s appointment of Danon whitewash of Israeli crimes

Hamas strongly condemned on Thursday the appointment of Israel’s UN ambassador Danny Danon as deputy president of the 72nd UN General Assembly.

Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Kanou’ said Danon’s election makes part of attempts to whitewash Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

“Danon’s very hands are tainted with Palestinians’ blood as he had served as a deputy war minister and has been involved in crimes and carnages against the Palestinian people,” said al-Kanou’.

Hamas called for a firm reaction against such a “serious step” and appealed to all human rights and humanitarian organizations to pressurize the UN to backtrack on the move.
