Palestinian equation on eve of Quds day

Day of Quds is a major legacy of Imam Khomeini. Thirty years after its designation question would happen why Imam designed the day and whether it has brought any achievements to the Islamic Ummah.

Imam immediately after the victory of the Islamic Revolution felt some major measure must be taken to support Palestine. He put Palestine top on agenda of the Islamic Republic with a view to the significance of the issue in the political equations of the world.

The existence of the Zionist regime in the heart of the world of Islam was a major barrier to the process of development in the Islamic world. Imam then thought any change in the situation of Palestine would have major effects in the whole Islamic world. He then recommended destroy Israel which he described as a cancerous tumor in the heart of the Islamic world.

The Islamic Revolution victory coincided with the Zionist enemy's signing of Camp David compromise agreement which lift Egypt from the confrontation equation. There were thoughts then that without Egypt, there were never any threat to face Israel however Imam Khomeini's initiative changed the equations.

The failure of sectarian and nationalistic solutions to the Palestinian crisis was paving the way for a powerful Islamic movement in Palestine and the Palestinian society pinned hope in the new time to come. The fledgling Islamic movement started in 1987 with he first Intifada. It was the assertion of a revolutionist nation on combat as sole way to determine its fate. The advent of the combat revealed the lie of the West that Palestine is a people-less land for a land less people.

Palestinian people got united and grew more hopeful in the future. In 2006, the hope bloomed in the united Palestinian vote to resistance (Hamas), declaring to the world that the nation recognizes Hamas as representative and its platform as sole way to establish a Palestinian state.

The hope gathered momentum after the Zionist regime was forced to withdraw southern Lebanon. The success of the Islamic resistance in defeating the Zionist regime in the two wars of Lebanon (2006) and Gaza (2008) attests to a major change in the Palestinian issue.

The presence of the Iranian nation produced the sentiment in the Palestinian community that they are not alone in their fight against the Zionist enemy. Today, the Palestinian community is more hopeful than ever and more determined to keep its fight.

Today, thank to the involvement of Islamic communities in the Palestinian crisis, the conditions have changed so that the fight against the Zionist regime is led by the collective will of Muslims. Once the enemy was demanding a massive part of the Islamic land: from Nile to Euphrates. Today, however, it has withdrawn from the Palestinian borders. Once, no one was ready to recognize the rights of Palestinian refugees. Today, however the crisis would not settle unless five million refugees return to their homes. All these achievements and the like are the fruits o Islamic thought and solidarity of Muslim communities regarding the Palestinian issue.

America and the Zionist regime nevertheless are trying to stand up to the chain of developments unleashed by the continued support of the Islamic Ummah to the Palestinian nation. The volume of western movements n the Middle East have seen a sharp rise, pointing to the reality that the Palestinian crisis has already become a top priority for the west.

The western plan however would be defused by a massive presence of Muslims in Quds day marches. Massive presence has proved a large internal lever of pressure against regimes which cooperate with west and run counter to the Palestinian interests.
