Islamic Revolution and Palestinian cause on eve of 4th decade

Sa'adollah Zare'i: Iran's Islamic Revolution took place in a bipolar world comprising ex-Soviet and US with both considering the newly-born as destructive.

The then Zionist regime's premier whose regime was considered as source of balance in Middle East relations in the bipolar world described the emergence of the religious revolution as an earthquake in the region.

It was clear that the Islamic Revolution neither would recognize a Soviet occupation nor an occupying Zionist regime, nor an interventionist US nor their Arab cronies.

Imam Khomeini the father of the revolution from the outset called on the world Muslims to get united and remove 'Israel' from the map of the world. He considered Qods and Palestine as belonging to all Muslims, virtually pulling the Palestinian issue out of the confines of Arab Nationalism views.

Imam Khomeini urged Iranians to stand against Western intervention, especially US', and reminded the nation that the Islamic Revolution will spread the world over as the mission of Islam is worldwide.

The Islamic Revolution survived under these conditions, enduring an assortment of predicaments set up by the joint front of America, Zionism and Arab reactionary regimes. It was inside the back yard of the joint front.

Four years after the victory of the revolution, a guerrilla group was formed in Lebanon under the influence of the revolution. They put up struggle against the Zionist regime and its western advocates.

16 years later, Israel was forced to withdraw its forces from Lebanon to stop its daily fatalities.

The echo of revolution also reverberated in Palestine, leading to successive waves of Palestinian Intifada (uprising).

Today, three decades after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic Republic has stood a point which the very joint front concedes to be unchallenged in the Middle East so that no solution could be found unless Iran gives a hand.

The governments of Egypt and Saudi Arabia have found themselves unable to influence trends of developments in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, resorting to comments like Iran has build government in Iraq, Iran supports the most powerful Lebanese group and Iran has got alliance with Palestinian people and powerful movements.

Islamic Revolution enters the fourth decade of its life as there is no trace of secular Turkish regime with Islamists taking offices. The same has taken place in Sudan.

In the Arab domain, Qatar, Yemen, and Algeria seek to boost ties with Iran, keeping an eye on the Iran-Turkey axis of relations.

Signs of change have also emerged in Mauritania, Comoros and Somalia. It can be speculated that in the few years to come, an integrated front will be formed in the world of Islam comprising Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Sudan, Comoros, Mauritania, Algeria, Libya, Qatar, Yemen, Somalia, Malaysia, Afghanistan, and Indonesia. The front will push the axis of US-independent countries comprising Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt to isolation.

On the eve of the fourth decade of the Islamic Revolution's victory, secular Palestinian movements are in wane. The Islamic Revolution could Islamisize the Palestinian issue.
