US diplomatic deployment in Lebanon
Lebanon readies for parliamentary elections amid special conditions in the country. Being the first set of polls after the reconciliation talks in Qatar two years ago, the nationalist trend (March 8 affiliates) seems likely to win over the western backed trend (March 14 affiliates) in the polls.
The US for its part in light of the sensitivity of the situation has engaged in massive efforts to complete the chain of its players in Lebanon. Some analysts consider a planned visit by Joe Biden to Lebanon late this week in the same tone.
The country has seen a shaky position in Lebanon especially following the arrests of Zionist regime's spies, failure of Egyptian project to challenge Hezbollah position, failure of Hariri court to be a tool against the resistance and freedom of four Lebanese officers suspected of having hand behind the premier assassination.
Amid the situation, the US seems to have tried to change the equations in favor of the March 14 through a diplomatic deployment. The drive however has already encountered an insurmountable challenge: the will of Lebanese people.
