Rooyvaran: Durban conference will isolate Israel
An Iranian Middle East expert told Qodsna that boycott of the global Durban Review Conference (anti-racism campaign) by certain western countries was meant to strip legitimacy of the conference and support the Zionist regime.
Hussein Rooyvaran noted that the previous edition of the conference in Durban, South Africa condemned the Zionist regime as racist for its conduct towards the Palestinian nation and that the conference however received strong protest from US and the regime.
"Considering the anti-Zionist mindset of NGO participants, it is natural for the conference to face boycott from advocates of the regime including America, Britain, Germany and France," he added.
"Western countries try to strip the legitimacy of the conference by avoiding taking seat in it however the massive presence of NGOs from the majority of countries would grant legitimacy to the conference," he said.
Rooyvaran called the Gaza war in late 2008 as a clear case of racism on the part of the regime. "A genocide took place in the Gaza war in which the Zionist regime adopted a racist conduct in an organized manner. The case can be brought in the conference as a clear token of racism," he said.
Rooyvaran said it was very likely that the conference reaffirm its resolution 3379 which considers the regime as a racist one, adding that the regime will be condemned in the conference more than before.
