Ayatollah Khamenei: US helped Israel to turn Palestine into nuke arsenal
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei issued a statement Friday in which he blasted the United States for assisting ‘Israel’ to transform the occupied Palestine into an arsenal of nuclear weapons.
The statement was read out in the opening ceremony of a two-day international disarmament conference in Tehran Saturday, titled Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation which Tehran sponsored in a bid to gather a worldwide momentum against nuclear ambitions of several western countries, mastered by the United States.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised the conference as an opportunity which could produce invaluable gains for human community worldwide.
The Islamic Revolution Leader noted that atomic science and technology could and should serve the well being of nations, in medical and industrial spheres, adding that the United States has disturbed the waters against the peaceful Iranian program in an apparent bid to divert the attention of the Middle East nations from the gains and benefits of the human technological achievement.
“It is bizarre that the sole nuclear predator in the world (the U.S.) has put on an air of opposition against nuclear weapons proliferation however it has definitely taken no serious move to that effect and would never take either,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that if the US was sincere in its nuclear-weary claims, the Zionist regime could not be able to transform the occupied Palestine into an arsenal of A-bombs and at the same time keep to refrain from signing into the NPT treaty.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged the conference to chalk out a blueprint for containing the threat of nuclear weapons as well as other weapons of mass destruction including chemical and microbial weapons, noting that the Iranian nation, itself a major WMD victim was on the ready to inject all its efforts into any drive which counter the weapons.
“We consider it a religiously Haram (forbidden) deed to use such weapons,” the statement underlined.
Official delegations from 35 countries at the levels of minister or other high-ranking officials will participate in Saturday nuclear meeting in Tehran with the motto of 'nuclear energy for all, nuclear weapon for no body'.
The meeting aims among others to convey the message that the world and the Middle East in particular must be free from nuclear weapon.
