Youngsters march in Gaza in support of resistance

Over 10,000Palestinian youngsters aged between 10 and 16 staged a march Friday following a training excursion inside Gaza, calling for continued resistance against ‘Israel’ as sole way to liberate Palestine. The marchers also voiced solidarity with international activists involved in the siege-breaking Gaza flotillas project.

The gathering, organized by the Islamic Jihad movement, was attended among others by Ahmad Forqan Douqan, father of Ibrahim Forqan who laid his life during the Israeli attack international activists in the Gaza-bound aid Freedom Flotilla.

Muhammad al-Hindi, a senior Jihad commander said the excursion was planned to counter the western vicious ventures which target the mindset of Gaza children. Hindi also denounced Israeli offer to talk with the Palestinian authority as a way to cover up its criminal attack against the aid flotilla.

The Islamic Jihad member then noted that resistance was the sole Palestinian option in the face of the Israeli occupation.

Ahmad Forqan said in a short speech that though his son could not reach the Gaza onboard the flotilla, he could attract the world public opinion towards Gaza and Palestine.

The deaths of the nine activists in the May 31 raid focused international attention on Israel's blockade of Gaza, imposed after the Islamic militant and anti-Israel Hamas violently overran the Palestinian territory in June 2007. The international criticism forced Israel to ease its land blockade of the territory but it has maintained the naval embargo, insisting it is vital to keep weapons out of Hamas' hands.
