300 Palestinian children in Israeli jails

Nearly 300 Palestinian children are currently held in Israeli jails including 14 minor girls, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) reported on Tuesday.

 

The PPS said, in its new report marking the International Child Day, celebrated worldwide on April 5, that 300 Palestinian children were arrested since the beginning of 2017 mostly in Occupied Jerusalem.

 

The report documented various human rights violations against the detained children including night arrests, brutal assaults, shootings, violent interrogation techniques, ill-treatment, threats, psychological and physical torture, and extracting forced confession.

 

The report pointed out that harsh sentences were issued over the past two years against detained children including ten-year and life-term sentences.

 

The PPS called on rights groups to provide Palestinian children with international protection.
