Achievements of the Moscow Summit

Mohammad Sadegh Mostafavi:

The Moscow summit on the Syrian crisis was an important attempt for ending 6 years of War in the country and this is because of two main factors:

Firstly, it was held without U.S as a challenging and crisis maker player, because U.S is one of the main supporters of terrorists groups in Syria.

Secondly, Turkey’s government that was a supporter of terrorist groups in the Middle East a while ago, participated in the summit and that signal new foreign policy of Turkish officials. Turkey has changed its policy and is in line with Tehran and Moscow.

This issue has happened while a week ago, Turkey was helping terrorists to overthrow the  Assad government.

Given this situation, it can be clear that Turkish President has arrived at the conclusion that being with Iran and Russia can be one of the major mechanism for ending Syrian crisis.

So the achievements of the Moscow summit can be following issues:

1- Cooperation of Turkey with Iran and Russia will make challenges for U.S agenda in Syria.

2- This summit has shown, not only holding a discussion for the Syria crisis without U.S is possible, but also it is reasonable and logical. Because without a player (U.S) who just fans the critical situation in the region, Syria crisis will be resolved sooner.

3- With the presence of Turkey in the Moscow summit, they announced the recognition of current Syria government and this is a big achievement.

4- This summit formed a new alliance in the region between Iran, Russia and Turkey in supporting the Syrian government

5- Moscow summit has increased the self-confidence of the Syrian people, army and  their government in fighting against terrorists groups.

6- The international and political pressures on the Middle East and Western countries who support the terrorist groups has increased.
