Israeli occupation of Palestine is settler colonialism

Jewish historian Ilan Pappe called the Israeli occupation of Palestine as settler colonialism aims at discrimination and racism whereby a nation takes over land and controls the law.
This came in a lecture delivered by Pappe on the occasion of celebrating the publication of his new book entitled ‘Israel and South Africa: The Many Faces of Apartheid’ in Occupied Jerusalem (Quds).
The book received political and historical critiques by over ten foreign writers and academicians.
He pointed out that the book aims at drawing the clearest picture of similarities and differences between the apartheid system in South Africa and Israel as well as the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Ilan Pappe had previously published a book entitled ‘The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine’.
He is a professor at the College of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom and director of the university's European Centre for Palestine Studies.
