Palestinian circles pleased by Sweden election

Palestinian circles have become pleased by the election of Sweden to the Security Council as it was the first EU country to recognize the state of Palestine.

On June 28, Sweden was elected to the United Nations Security Council.

The election was called by the embassy of Sweden in Washington as “a great victory for Swedish foreign policy and Swedish diplomacy.”

“During our two-year term, we will take our share of responsibility for international peace and security that membership of the Security Council entails,” it said in its website.
