Israeli forces injured 1,300 Palestinians in 2016 1st quarter

Israeli forces in the occupied Palestine injured some 1,300 Palestinians in the first three months of 2016, new data from a United Nations body has revealed.

Rising tensions in the occupied territories have led to dozens of deaths and hundreds of clashes.

According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Israeli forces in the occupied cities killed 57 Palestinians and injured 1,301, in the period January 1 to April 4.

The figures are contained within OCHA’s most recent weekly update.

Over the same time period, Israeli forces demolished 500 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds ('Jerusalem') combined, displacing 657 people.

Since January, moreover, 12 structures have been demolished on “punitive grounds”, displacing 62 persons, including 27 children.

The UN data also shows that in the first three months of 2016, Israeli occupation forces have conducted an average of 94 “search and arrest operations” per week in Palestinian communities across the West Bank.

This is in addition to 11 documented military incursions into the Gaza Strip.
