Ramallah op, nightmare for Israel

A Palestinian analyst says an anti-occupation operation carried out past day in Beit El in the occupied West Bank was a turning point in the current anti-occupation intifada that would trigger a nightmare for the Israeli security bodies.

Khalil Shahin also told the Paltoday website that Israel would tighten security in the occupied area however not to an extent that may deteriorate the security situation.

The analyst said Israel would review VIP id-cards issued to the PA authorities and tradesmen and would demand the PA to tighten grip on the Palestinian nation.

Shahin noted however that the PA security officers are part of the Palestinian nation and have witnessed the daily Israeli aggressions against their countrymen.

The Beit El operation “is thus no more surprising,” he said.

Three Israeli soldiers were injured, two of them seriously, when a Palestinian combatant opened fire at them on Sunday morning at Beit El checkpoint, north of al-Bireh city in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Palestinian sources identified the anti-occupation shooter as 35-year-old Amjad Sukari, working as a private police guard for the chief of the Ramallah prosecution office.
