IRI marks day of Gaza
A sixth conference entitled “Gaza, symbol of resistance” is set to be held in Tehran to mark a day designated as “day of Gaza” in the Iranian calendar.
The day is to mark the 22-day perseverance of the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza against the invading Zionist army in 2008.
On December 27, 2008 the Zionist regime launched a brutal incursion against an already besieged Gaza Strip.
The attack caused the deaths of over 1400 innocent Palestinians, mostly civilians.
6000 were wounded.
Despite unprecedented atrocity carried out by the Zionist army, none of the regime’s goals was achieved, and the army retreated after 22 days of ferocious war.
The successful resistance by a minimally equipped Palestinian force against the Zionist regime’s army is regarded a large victory in the history of Palestinian resistance.
To celebrate the resistance’s victory, The IRI Parliament named 29th of Day (December 27) as “the day of Gaza.”
