Quds University unveils martyrs tree for Christmas
Al Quds University, east of the occupied al-Quds ('Jerusalem') decided to mark the upcoming Christmas holiday by placing a large tree at its campus entrance, adorned by pictures of Palestinan activists who have laid their lives in the4 ongoing anti-occupation attacks.
Dozens of university faculty members, religious leaders and other senior figures headed by Greek Orthodox Archbishop Atallah Hanna and the Mufti of Beit Lahm ('Bethlehem') Sheikh Abdul-Majid Ata Amarna were invited to the tree's unveiling, which was attended by hundreds of students and Quds residents.
Hanna and Amarna ceremonially removed the covering from the Christmas tree, calling it the martyrs' tree.
TThey also delivered speeches in support of the ongoing anti-occupation attacks.
Alongside the tree an honor guard of young Palestinians in keffiyehs and traditional garb stood with PLO flags in their hands.
