Israelis again attack al-Aqsa Mosque
Israeli forces have once again clashed with Palestinians at al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds ('Jerusalem') as Israeli troops and settlers continue their acts of violence in the holy site.
The clashes broke out at the holy site on Monday, following the deployment of Israeli soldiers to the area for the Jewish Sukkot holiday.
Also on Sunday, clashes broke out across the compound after Israeli police stormed the holy site and fired rubber-coated steel bullets and stun grenades at Palestinian protesters.
Israeli police also imposed severe restrictions to block access of Palestinians to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound, preventing all Palestinian men under 50 from entering the site.
The mosque, widely revered by Muslims, has been the scene of clashes between Palestinians and Israeli settlers and troops in recent weeks.
Israeli soldiers have attacked and injured dozens of Palestinians who have held rallies against Tel Aviv’s military assaults on the al-Aqsa Mosque since September 13.
Tel Aviv regime forces have applied sweeping restrictions on entry into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound since August 26.
The al-Aqsa Mosque is Islam’s third holiest site after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Its compound is also highly respected by Jews and Christians.
