200 Palestinian minors languishing in Israeli jails

The Israeli regime holds 200 Palestinian minors in three prisons: Ofer, with half of the number, Megiddo and Hasharon, reports said.

The Palestinian Prisoner Society revealed that there are two girls among the minors imprisoned in Israeli jails. Both are from al-Khalil, PIC reported.

The Society disclosed, in a report issued on the Palestinian Child Day, that the pace of Israeli arrests among Palestinian minors has increased since mid 2014 especially after recent events in Jerusalem where hundreds of children living in the occupied al-Quds ('Jerusalem') have been subjected to detention.

According to human rights sources, the occupied city got the highest percentage in terms of arresting minors. At least two children are rounded up daily by the Israeli forces besides temporary detention.

Al-Khalil governorate comes second in regards to the number of children arrested in Israeli jails. Seventy of the arrested minors are from al-Khalil.

Most of the Israeli arrests in al-Khalil governorate take place in contact areas, with the Jews, in al-Khalil city.
