Israel entertaining thoughts of Aqsa destruction - expert

A Palestinian personality has expressed deep fears that Israel was entertaining thoughts of destroying the holy al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied al-Qods ('Jerusalem') by taking advantage of the chaotic situation in the region, Qods News Agency reports.

Expert in Qods affairs, Jamal Amr says Israel is about to carry out an aggressive act against the holy site as an election stunt before the upcoming March general elections.

The Palestinian personality told the PIC that certain Israeli leaders have promised voters to build a temple over the mosque's ruins, adding that they have stepped up their break-ins into the mosque's courtyard during the past months.

Amr warned that they might take advantage of the successive crises currently rocking the Arab countries to fulfill their promises.

The personality also touched on Israeli drones flying over Al-Aqsa Mosque and said they could be used to launch bomb attacks against the holy, historical site.

"After March 17, the Israeli election date, we will face a very serious dilemma because members of 25 extremist organizations … (would) escalate their break-ins and attacks against al-Aqsa Mosque and the worshipers," he said.
