Scores of EU lawmakers urge suspending Israel deal

Scores of European parliament members have called on the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini to suspend the EU-Israel Association Agreement on accounts of Israel’s violations of Palestinians’ human rights, Qods News Agency reports.
Some 63 influential MEPs from across EU political parties have called for tough measures against Israel in a partial response to its genocidal war on Gaza in which the Zionist regime embarked on a massacre of over 2,300 Palestinians in Gaza in summer.
The MEPs invoked an Amnesty International report that Israel deliberately targeted civilians and committed other war crimes during the summer genocidal war.
The European lawmakers urged for considering the suspension of the Association Agreement with Israel “unless Israel takes substantial and immediate steps to bring its conduct in line with international law.”
The MEPs reminded that Article II of the EU-Israel partnership deal stipulates Israel’s respect for human rights and democratic principles, adding that the EU indecision towards the Israeli violations might be misunderstood by Tel Aviv as a message of lenience.
