Disarming would further fan tensions

Qudsna:
The critical situation of the occupied –al-Quds has falsified the notion that peace would be established by disarming the Palestinians.
Armed Jewish settlers have in the past few months used their military edge to push their aggressive projects in the occupied Palestinian territories. Palestinians have found no other way to counter their projects than taking up cold arms including knives or hatchet.
Disarming the Palestinian people has only fanned further tensions by alluring the Jewish settlers to use the military imbalance to aggress the Palestinian side.
The situation may teach the Palestinian Authority the lesson that the authority may only meet its duties in countering the Zionist aggressions by reviewing its security deals with the Zionist regime rather than by recoursing to international bodies.
The PA would be even more required to revise its pro-Israeli policing role in light of the fact that the Zionist regime has launched a proxy war against Palestinians through extremists Jews.
A second lesson to be taken from the situation is that if the Zionist regime could proceed with its project of disarming Gaza (preparations have already been put in place by the Egyptian government's buffer zone plans), it would not help peace and security rather it would seduce the regime to mount further wars on Gaza.
The situation shows that the project of depriving the Palestinians from holding conventional arms has brought two unconventional results; for one thing, the Zionist regime and its extremist Jews have been prompted to advance their unilateral projects by capitalizing on the Palestinian lack of arms. It has also prompted the Palestinians to use any means at hand to defend their properties and sanctities.
