Abbas' remarks, a crisis-time tactic

An Iranian analyst says the PA Head Mahmoud Abbas’ remarks in the UNGA meeting was contrary to his previous positions during the past few years.

Hasan Hanizadeh told Qudsna that following the failure of the latest round of PA-Israel talks, the PA head actually seeks to send sympathizing gestures to Hamas through making such remarks after so as to use the Palestinian movement’s capacity for running through the current crisis.

Hanizadeh said records show that the PA head tends to attack Hamas as long as the situation is normal however it embarks on using the Hamas capacity as soon as he faces an internal or international crisis.

“This is the last chance for Abbas to prove his good face and force the Zionist regime to accept the Palestinian demands by forming a common front with the Palestinian resistance movements,” Hanizadeh said.

The analyst added that if Abbas had made the remarks as a tactical move, no conversion would take form among the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.
