Kerry seeks to revive Kissinger policies

US Secretary of State John Kerry has been seeking to revive and pursue the sort of policies once pursued by his former colleague, Henry Kissinger in the lead-up to the Camp David treaty, Dar al-Khalij daily wrote.

The daily said Kerry is intended to stabilize the anti-Palestinian policies of Israel, including settlement expansion and Judaization of the occupied al-Quds ('Jerusalem').

"In order to reach his goals, Kerry has to keep the PA-Israel talks boiling until the US and Israel could serve the Palestinian side with its desired dish," the daily said.

The daily said the top US diplomat has already strived to keep the reign of the al-Quds in the hand of Israel and to turn the issue of Palestinian refugees from a political issue into a humanitarian one.

"The secretary of state seeks to help Israel to shoulder off the burden of refugees who are allowed to return to their homeland under UN resolutions," it said, adding that the top diplomat seeks to resolve the issue of refugees by making the PA authorities to swap their rights with some humanitarian aid.

The daily said the UN was acting passively towards the Palestinian issue. "The body may likely appease Washington by reversing its previous resolutions and issuing a new one" that ignores the rights of Palestinian refugees, the daily suggested.

The daily cautioned that Kerry's plan for the Palestinian issue would turn the Palestinian population in the West Bank into a hand-cuffed community under the control of Israel, let alone allowing the Palestinian refuges to return to their homeland.
