Ashrawi condemns newer Israeli settlements plans

PLO Executive Committee member, Hanan Ashrawi has condemned Israel's latest approval of the construction of 829 settlement units to be built north of Occupied alQuds ('Jerusalem').

The PLO member made the remarks in a ceremony on Monday to bid farewell to outgoing Mexican Representative to the State of Palestine.

"This demonstrates yet another Israeli attempt to ensure the failure of negotiations and the two-state solution. It evident that Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is playing the quid pro quo game by undermining American efforts to achieve Palestinian-Israel peace as pay back for the American/international agreement with Iran."

"Israel's dangerous unilateral measures send a strong message to the Obama administration and to the rest of the world that it has no intention to comply with international law and the will of the international community."

"Israel is not only capable of scuttling the talks, but it is deliberately sabotaging the chances of peace and stability throughout the region," concluded Ashrawi.
