Israeli lawmaker convicted of bribery

A Zionist regime's lawmaker and former cabinet minister has been convicted of taking bribes and conspiring to cover it up.

Shlomo Benizri of the ultra-Orthodox Shas Party accepted bribes from a contractor while serving in a string of ministerial positions.

Court documents show the contractor donated money to a Jewish seminary linked to Benizri, bought him furniture and renovated his apartment.

In return, Benizri intervened to help the contractor's business interests.

Tuesday's conviction is the latest in a slew of embarrassing cases involving the regime's politicians.

The Zionist regime's former president has signed a plea bargain admitting to sexual harassment, an ex-finance minister faces embezzlement charges and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is suspected of improper real estate deals.
