2 Palestinians embark on martyr attack

At least 3 Israelis confirmed dead and 38 others wounded Monday morning as two Palestinian martyrdom seekers blew themselves up in a mall in the southern Palestine occupied territories town of Dimona.

The explosion shook the desert town of Dimona, the site of Israel's nuclear reactor. But the blast hit about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the reactor site.

Israeli media sources said that the blast was carried out by two martyrdom seekers, making up the death toll 3.

Israeli David Adom ambulance service claimed that three people have been killed including a woman, while 38 others wounded.

The attack is the first in more than a year, after a Palestinian activist exploded himself in the Israeli city of Natanya in January2007.

Three Palestinian resistance groups have claimed responsibility for the Dimona bombing, including the Al-Aqsa Martyrs brigades, an off-shot of Fatah part of President Mahmoud Abbas, the Abu Ali Mustafa brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and a newly-known group called the national resistance brigades.

The Israeli military declared a high state of alert in light such warnings, calling on Israelis not to embark on tourism inside the Egyptian Sinai peninsula, unless pre-organized or escorted by security convoys.

Khaled aL-Batch, a local Gaza leader of the Islamic Jihad movement, told aL-Jazeera satellite channel that Monday's attack is a ' resistance operation' that is responding to frequent Israeli army attacks on the Palestinian people, regardless to the body behind it.

Hamas's spokesperson in Gaza, Fawzi Barhoum, was quoted by aL-Jazeera as saying " we congratulate the Palestinian people for this operation, which comes right after repeated attacks on the Palestinians over the past one month, with more than 250 Palestinians killed".

" It is a natural right, the international legitimacy has given us, in a time Israel continues to threaten the Palestinian people" he commented on the attack on Dimona.
