IRGC chief: Israel's attack on Iran will be a grave and historical mistake

 Asked about Israel's contribution to a likely war on Iran, Major General Jaafari told Aljazeera "... as far as we know, officials of the Quds Occupying Regime will not commit such a grave and historical mistake." To a question about Iran's response to possible Israeli targeting of Syria, Jaafari said, "We believe it is our Islamic and revolutionary duty to support any Muslim state anywhere on earth which is subject somehow to any injustice and tyranny. Islam and Quran teach us and the late Imam (Khomeini) have advised us to support them.

"Muslim country of Syria will also be an instance of such countries and if attacked, Iranian nation will rush assistance as much as it can. We cannot say what we will do and the decision on ways and means of helping would lie on Iran's Supreme National Security Council and the Supreme Leader will have a final say in that connection.

Conditions will be assessed by officials and due orders will be issued accordingly."

Asked to comment on the US putting the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations, he said, "Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic of Iran's system are proud of resisting enemies and aggressions launched on Muslims in the region by the US and the Quds occupying regime. Iran will never sit idly by in the face of such injustices and invasions and is even proud of the resistance. So that's natural for them to raise such allegations against Iran because the country would never yield to them and to their injustice." He added that Iran will even fight global arrogance, occupation and terrorism and the opposition is a real one because the country does not move on the basis of US plan, rather it does so in line with national interests.
