IRI FM official meets Egyptian FM on Gaza plight

Director General of the Middle East and North African Affairs at Foreign Ministry Ali-Asghar Mohammadi conferred with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulgheit in Cairo on Sunday.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Hissam Zaki said Sunday that Mohammadi and Abulgheit had in the meeting discussed latest developments in Palestine and related issues.

Zaki quoted Abulgheit as briefing Mohammadi in the meeting on his country's position on Palestinians' mass border crossings into Egypt in the past few days.

He further quoted the Egyptian foreign minister as saying that his country plans to adequately deal with the plight and control borders.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry official quoted Mohammadi as saying for his part that Iran is ready to help Gazans, which was welcomed by Abulgheit.

The Egyptian minister said his country welcomes assistance and cooperation between Egyptian Red Crescent and Iran in that connection.

Welcoming Cairo's move to allow Palestinians to enter Egypt to meet their needs, Mohammadi said Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's action has been fully welcomed by Iran.
