Jannati slams silence of world heads

Interim Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati on Friday criticized the world leaders for their silence towards prevailing injustice in Gaza.

"What are the world heads of state doing today? They gave only one proposal for a UN Security Council session, which failed to issue a resolution against the Zionists' crimes. Was that enough in their opinion?"

Ayatollah Jannati said, while delivering his second Khotbeh (politico-religious speech) to this week's Friday prayers congregation at Tehran University campus.

Addressing Muslim ulima and al-Azhar University figures, Ayatollah Jannati questioned, "What are you doing? Don't you read traditions? Why don't you fight for saving the oppressed? Why don't you raise your voice at least? You should today give statement s and instigate the public against the Zionists."

He said that with the Zionist regime's atrocities, another Karbala and Ashura are taking place in Palestine.

Ayatollah Jannati was referring to Karbala, a region in Iraq, and Ashura (the 10th of the lunar month of Moharram), which were the place and the timing of martyrdom of Hazrat Hossein Ibn Ali (AS), the third Imam of Prophet Mohammad's (SAWA) infallible ho usehold.

He said that today many women, children and patients die in Palestine. He added that the heart which does not feel pity for the injustice in the case of the Palestinian nation is harder than stone.

Ayatollah Jannati thanked President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for consulting with certain Muslim heads of state on Palestine.

He said, "We will continue to raise our outcry and will awaken all against the crimes. We consider it as a scene of test for Muslim states."

He added that eventually blood of the oppressed nation would cost the tyrants dearly. Ayatollah Jannati hoped for a day when the Palestinian nation celebrates its victory.
