Israel violates Lebanese airspace

Lebanese troops opened fired Monday on Zionist regime's warplanes which violated the Lebanon airspace, but no direct hits were reported, a senior military official said.

 

``A number of hostile warplanes violated the Lebanese airspace Monday, flying at a medium altitude over the city of Sour and the town of Naqoura,'' the official told The Associated Press.

 

``The Lebanese army's ground anti-aircraft guns confronted the hostile Israeli warplanes, forcing them to flee to occupied Palestinian territory,'' the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with military rules.

 

Israeli warplanes frequently violate Lebanese airspace in what Israel says are reconnaissance missions.

 

The Lebanese army fired on Israeli warplanes in October, in the first action since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war.
