Western, Zionist media
boycott Iran' proposal for Palestinian referendum

Mehdi Shakibai

Iranian and regional media can act as a wing for spreading Islamic schemes for Palestine, Mehdi Shakibai said.

Speaking to Qods News Agency about the proposal of the Islamic Republic of Iran for holding a referendum in the occupied territories of Palestine so that Palestinians can determine their own future, Middle East affairs expert, Mahdi Shakibai said holding a referendum was first raised by Iran’s Leader which a political scheme and its basis is in line with international laws.

“The United Nations and international community have stressed the importance of using a referendum to determine the future of a society,” Shakibai added.

Calling resistance, the main strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the Palestinian issue, he noted that Iran raised the initiative of holding a referendum to neutralize other conspiracies.

“The Zionist regime has occupied the Palestinian territories and displaced millions of Palestinians. Beside oppressing the Palestinian people, the Zionist regime along with its partners have raised multiple proposals to end the crisis in Palestine. The Iran’s proposal aims at showing the hypocrisy of Zionists and their supporters,” Shakibai said.

He then referred to the wave of efforts by Western and Zionist medias to boycott Iran’s proposal as the Western countries consider it as a threat for public opinions. “Passivity of public opinions towards the Palestinian issue is one of the main challenges in this way, and this challenge can be end by spreading the discourse of referendum in Palestine.”

The political analyst stressed the role of media in advancing Iran’s proposal, saying they can act as a wing for spreading Islamic schemes for Palestine.
