Hamas renews firm rejection of "Deal of the Century"

"The Palestinian people can never allow this deal to proceed since it ignores the basic principles of the Palestinian cause," he told reporters after a meeting of leaders of Palestinian groups at Commodore Gaza Hotel.

Hamas invited the leaders of the fellow groups to this meeting in order to coordinate steps to resist this plan announced last year by US President Donald Trump, he pointed out.

Hanyieh called for developing a strategy for countering the serious developments relating to the deal and protecting the rights of the Palestinian people particularly the right to al-Qods and the right of the refugees to return to their homes.

He also called for solving the problems of the Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip, reopening Rafah border crossing with Egypt and advancing the inter-Palestinian reconciliation.
