Prospects of Palestinian reconciliation

Palestine is currently suffering a large rupture in the political arena. This is a weak point of the Palestinians which has largely served the Zionist regime by allowing it to find a space to breach its international commitments.

An internal political schism has led to a persisting rupture between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, casting a cloud of doubt over the future of any peace project in the region. The schism has provided Israel with an opportunity to expand its expansionist policies to all strategic areas around Beit ul-Moqaddas and other cities of the West Bank, setting up a giant wall against the formation of an independent Palestinian state with Qods as its capital.

Indeed, the price of schism is the loss of Palestine.

Fatah and Hamas; national consensus
Despite a seemingly large schism among Fatah and Hamas, the two movements form the center of any national reconciliation drive. They are then expected to shelve their differences for the moment and get united in the track of confrontation wit the Zionist regime.

The international community for its part is expected to adopt a set of fair policies and push for the lifting of the Gaza siege. The process of usurping of Palestinian lands must be stopped and these lands must be returned to their true owners to open the way for the formation of an independent and free Palestinian country over the 1967 areas.

There are several proposals which could help advance the goal.

1- Formation of national government, reconstruction of Gaza, staging of elections and pushing for national reconciliation
2- Reforming the structure of PLO so that it could accommodate all Palestinian groups
3- Establishment of security body based on necessary national and technical principles with the help of Arab experts
4- Renewal of Palestinian legislative council, respecting public opinion
5- Urging international bodies to prevent the Zionist regime from continuing judaization schemes and countering the repression of Zionist army
6- Establishment of a legal procedures so that no future Palestinian government could adopt a law against national interests
7- Establishment of deep relations with the world of Islam and Arab countries
8- Promotion of Palestinian cause throughout the world
9- Keeping in place the choice of resistance as long as the Zionist regime aggresses the Palestinian territories
