Erdogan signs Turkey-Israel normalization deal

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday approved a normalization deal with Israel, which was recently passed by the parliament and was already approved in the Israeli Cabinet.

With the signing of this deal, both states will exchange ambassadors in the next few weeks

Turkey’s parliament approved the normalization deal on August 20.

As part of the deal however, Israel will have to pay $20 million as compensation for the loss of lives during the Mavi Marmara flotilla incident in which 10 Turkish activists who tried delivering aid to Gaza were killed by Israeli forces.

In return Turkey will drop all cases against Israeli forces and individuals.
