UNSC slams Israeli for breaches against Palestinian children

A UN panel has slammed Israel for committing violations against Palestinian children.

The panel was initiated by the UN Security Council and was joined by Venezuela, I.R.Iran and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

It focused on Children in Armed Conflict.

Israel “denies Palestinian children their status as minors, and subjects them to cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment,” Venezuela’s Ambassador to the United Nations Rafael Ramirez said.

“We note with shame that while some countries call for accountability for violations against children in armed conflicts, when it comes to violations committed against Palestinian children by Israel, they remain silent,” Ramirez said.

“We view with concern the policy of double standards, in discussing the case of Palestine and call for redoubling efforts to fulfill obligations under international humanitarian law, including the principle of proportionality."

Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN Gholamali Khoshroo described the UN negligence toward the findings on crimes committed by Saudi Arabia-led coalition in Yemen as treason against the children who are victims of these crimes.

Khoshrou said children are currently suffering and being killed and maimed in massive numbers as a result of armed conflicts.
